Have you ever thought about what to do with old laminated awards or degree plaques? Well I would suggest converting them into family heirlooms
as small coffee or end tables. The image on the left shows a 14" by 17" laminated plaque used as the top of a small table. The height is that of a standard coffee table,
16.5". The laminated surface should standup well to cold drinks and water spills.
A hot plate should be used for any hot object placed on the surface.
I think this is a great way to make use of some plaques, making them a center of attention and a reminder of what the plaque represents.
As of Nov 2009 the cost for these small tables is $200 plus packing, shipping and insurance which usually is in the $20 to $40 range
depending on the distance from Durham, NC. You would be responsible for shipping the plaque to me. Alternatively, I could ship the base and
four table top clamps and screws with you responsible attaching the 4 screws.
The image on the right is a base made from American Cherry. Bases can be made in a variety of hardwoods:
